NEW YORK (Reuters) - Doctors are too quick to recommend expensive genetic counseling or testing for ovarian cancer, but at the same time often fail to refer women at high risk for the disease, government researchers said.

The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is proposing that Medicare soon cover screenings for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and hepatitis B, as well as "high intensity behavioral counseling," for sexually active at-risk seniors, pregnant women and others covered by the government insurance program.
