Your Easy Path To Determining A Career You Deserve PDF Print E-mail
By Arthur Manford Chambers III

When you were in high school, you might not remember, but you probably took a skill assessment test by a school counselor to see what kind of career you would do well at. As young adults begin to make the change from dependents to either employed adults or college students, the emphasis on learning leads to the following question: How are these people going to support themselves? If income was the only determinant for the occupations that young people were led to, then everyone would just all be told to go into lucrative careers.

It is well known that not everyone is ideally suited for certain careers, psychologically or intellectually, to be a lawyer, an engineer, or a doctor. A lot of those that do, might also have no interest in these fields. The key is to match the person with the area of work that inspires them to succeed. Without personal motivation, the career path becomes tiring and boring instead of full of exploration and self-discovery.

To get it right, guidance counselors determine not just a student's abilities but also their interests and the way they handle themselves. Just because you are now out of school, doesn't mean that formula has changed. The same things are still important, whether you are in your last year of school or been employed for years and considering a career change. This may take a bit of self-reflection, but it pays off in the end. You will find that your interests probably continued somewhat consistant throughout your life, even if you steered away from them for one reason or another.

If you grew up collecting bugs, maybe you have an interest in classifying things or the natural world. If you are a creative type, you may have heard that your artistic ability is not going to pay the bills so you stayed away from enhancing that part of yourself without considering that it could be part of a money-making career as a graphic artist.

There are many ways to provide for yourself, and not all of the careers will be typical 9 to 5 corporate jobs. So, don't limit your options to only consider careers that look lucrative or that fall under an established profession. It is easier, at times, to have an established profession, but even white-collar workers are finding themselves unbalanced in the present competitive business economy. The key is to find something that not only is a way to pay the bills but also something that you love and will not tire doing.

You are the only one who really knows what your interests are and how well you did in certain school subjects. If you want to take a skills assessment test, there are plenty of them online that can help you choose some suitable choices for you. If you already have a background in a certain industry, taking a skill assessment test can guide you in new areas and help you in finding your ideal career.
